What does it mean to be a non-profit? It means you must not only deliver the programs you promise to offer but you must raise the funds to operate effectively and efficiently. Leadership Newark (LN) does not operate to make a profit to do the work, however just like any other business LN needs revenue to sustain the organization.
Leadership Newark is largely supported by grants from corporations and foundations. However, the organization must raise approximately 25% of the operating budget through our own efforts. Thus, in honor of our 20th Anniversary – on March 20, 2018, we have come up with a slightly unique take on a social media campaign in which many of us are familiar. We hope we can count on your financial support during Leadership Newark’s very own “Giving Tuesday” campaign, #LNGives.
This one-day campaign has a fundraising goal of $20,000 recognizing 20 years of service developing emerging and established leaders. We are also asking for donors to consider a gift in multiples of $20 recognizing the 20 year anniversary, ($20, $40, $60, ….. $200, $2,000 or even $20,000).
Leadership Newark is unique in that it is the only organization in the greater Newark area that offers leadership development programs, which educates and enhances one’s knowledge of the public policy issues affecting Newark and urban communities in general.
Working towards achieving our fundraising goal this year, we are appealing to family, friends and supporters to give generously on March 20th to help send us onto the next 20 years!
