The Prudential Foundation

The Prudential Foundation supports initiatives that increase employment opportunities by strengthening job skills, creating jobs through business development, and promoting neighborhood development activities. Programs involve workforce development and increasing entrepreneurship through training and access to capital. In addition, the Foundation promotes creation of decent, affordable housing.

Victoria Foundation

Victoria Foundation is a private grantmaking institution, which was founded in 1924 by Mr. Hendon Chubb in honor of his mother, Victoria Eddis Chubb. Since the early 1960’s the Foundation’s trustees have targeted giving to programs that impact the cycle of poverty in Newark, New Jersey. In the 1970’s, a second priority was initiated to protect the environment throughout the state of New Jersey. Within Newark, funded projects address K-12 education reform, neighborhood revitalization, and strengthening youth and families.

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation

Through the foresight and generosity of Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge (daughter of William and Almira Rockefeller), the foundation bearing her name was created in 1974. For more than 30 years, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has nurtured people, ideas, and institutions which transcend self-interest and contribute to a sustainable human society and the environment which shelters it.

The Foundation’s geographic focus is the State of New Jersey, with special emphasis on urban neighborhoods in Essex County.

The Fund for New Jersey

The Fund for New Jersey organizes its grant making around a simple principle, that in a democracy like ours an informed and involved citizenry holds the ultimate authority. Their grants promote projects that share a high purpose of furthering effective democracy through a range of methods encompassing education, advocacy, public policy analysis, and community problem-solving.

The Schumann Fund

The board of trustees for the Schumann Fund has designated early childhood development, environmental protection, and statewide public policy, with a special focus on school innovation, as grantmaking priorities for the fund. The Fund makes grants throughout New Jersey. Social-service grants are generally made only to organizations serving Essex County.

Newark Charter School Fund

The mission of the Newark Charter School Fund (NCSF) is to support the quality, growth, and sustainability of the charter sector in order to provide all of Newark’s students with access to great schools in collaboration with district efforts to improve the quality of Newark public education.
